I've looked at a fair few photos throughout the course of this year, in archiving stuff, in preparing topics and in sourcing imagery to use in wallpapers and icons etc.
I thought I'd just share with you a few that caught my eye across 2007 and ask you if you have any particular favourites for any reason too....?
Turkey - just love the composition, and the small bit of trackside to give you an idea of how Bati is turning; I love big wide shots and also when they get quite abstract like this. There's also something quite cool and elegant about the "loneliness" of the shot.
Catalunya - a lot simpler, this one - but just a great clean overhead pic; has been used/overused by me plenty
Totally conveys speed and action.
Estoril - Alvaro on his victory lap; love the feel of a hot day, and all the warm colours of the Spanish flags. Really nice reminder of a great day.
Well, why not...
Seriously though - this is one of a series of shots that cover J-Lo sailing off out into the gravel whilst Bati just ploughs on off into the distance. Great move, great lap, great race. The gravel was just a bonus
Philip Island - Alvaro took second in this race (J-Lo was miles away by now!) and this shot of Bati leading the rest of the field as they spill downwards and off to the right totally captures the beautiful, exciting nature of the Philip Island track.
Excellent composition on this shot I reckon.
Again, Philip Island I think... this picture will appear alongside the definition of the word "Adorkable" in the next Oxford English Dictionary.
It always strikes me as a bit odd too - doesn't Bati look *really* tall in this shot????
Finally this one - I love pics that show riders / drivers "in the zone" and I love seeing their moves, rituals or whatever that prepare them. The intensity of this looks great - totally crouched, clutched and focussed. Awesome shot.
Soooooo....
Any of you have any favourites you'd like to share as well?
Any reason will do... could be that it's a great action shot, or it captures a crucial moment or move, or just that it's an excellent photo....

Great selection of pictures there Gareth!
The second picture is one of my favourites too, I'm thinking about getting it as a poster for my new house.
Here's some of my fav's, not really because they're pretty, but.. ya well...:
Catalunya practice. I like this one because it shows one of the little things that has sneaked into his riding style and not many riders tend to do it. Must be a balance thing.
Assen race day. If it weren't for the huge A-style logo in the background it would be a perfect picture. This is the last corner before coming up to the straight, which I can watch the riders go through for hours and hours at the time. It was not his most stunning race, but after two not-so-brilliant ones, it was good to have him back on the podium. Love the way how the bikes go completely different directions.
Valencia race day. Just after he crashed. Love this one, because it shows how upset he was. Think he really wanted to do well there, with the whole fanclub and his family and friends being there, and he was heading for the lead. Bit of a sad moment really. Don't you just want to run up there and give him a big hug?

I very nearly included that last shot too
Although it was a heartbreaking moment it's a superb photo; like you suggest, you can imagine the intensity of the emotion of it all for him.

...it *was* one of my first thoughts, yeah...
Sad end to such a great season; hopefully a different picture this year

i love those ones too, although the bottom one makes me want to cry
anyway, my all time favourite one is this:
i love close up photographs and he's clearly smiling here, just love it.
the expression on his face here just makes me giggle, i dont actually know why...
i love the composition of this one and the reflection in the rain, he looks scarily close to crashing...
i dont really need to explain this one i dont think
composition more than anything on this one, and it really shows the atmosphere well

I would have posted that one too. There are so many awesome pics and GB also posted some of my favs.
Here are some more:
Composition, animal in the pic, exotic, funny - do I really have to explain that?
I admit it, I just love to see him happy...
Just because. I like the colours and the composition. I like the colour of his livery anyway.
Had to be one of Mugello in here. I really like this one and I think the whole picture also shows a bit of who he is. Anybody know what I mean?
Not the best picture frame, but I like the rider's perspective.
Just love it.
My absolute favourite, because I took it. (Sorry about the extensive use of watermarks, but I will not have certain people cut them off again...)
Fav pictures from races after the summer break in a next post.

Simply amazing!
Very powerful shot, i love the joy in his face and flag of Finland on the right
Hate the hair, love the expression!
Even though he has crashed he's smiling! "Look mama, i crashed!"

I love that one as well, the expression on his face is priceless.
Now for the picture overkill. Yes, I am very indecisive.
Because his whole face is smiling. Not just the lips.
Now tell me that anyone of you does not like this one...
Brings back great memories of an almost perfect race.
I just loooove the colour and his very focused look.
Artsy.
Awww, isn't he a sweetie?
I like pictures that are taken from ground-level and this one also shows a bit more how big these machines actually are, they often seem so small on TV.
Visible speed.
I love the extremely focused look in his eyes. He's nice off track, but unforgiving on track.
That's it. I promise I will post no more pics.

@ stv21... the pic you took is triffick cos it's so natural, but also it has huge personal value too - very cool.
And I love the choice of the 'under the bridge at Motegi' shot - very very cool, and that scuffed leathers one we can also file under 'adorkable' i think...

I'll have to say my favourites start at Estoril:
After this, the riders needed binoculars to actually see him.
The rest come from Mugello:
 Anything to stop misting visors.
Has to be my favourite moment of the whole season... Bati Wins!!!... Lorenzo drops it!!!
You could almost do it as a painting. I could probably make it look like a painting anyway. I'll have a try.

Nice choices - I love that Mugello one especially; it's one of a quick succession of pics of the move and the drop, fractions of seconds apart - and they all look pretty cool.
I think there were also some taken from the next corner that also looked pretty good, but from the opposite direction and farther off - very arty almost!
