Don't just blame Bernie, he regrets this problem happening... (Can't believe I said that)

... it was the recession that screwed Donington over unfortunately and we might have lost Snetterton as well if Jonathan Palmer went ahead with upgrading the circuit.

Only thing Bernie would regret is not filling his pockets.I just had a bad feeling about this whole venture from the start.

Just have to blame the greedy banks and their stupid bonuses and policies.

Whoever buys the track has a choice of either finishing the project (which they should imo) or spend at least a million quid on reverting the track back.

Either way BSB have announced they wont be there next year, replacing it with a second Cadwell meeting.

or donington, for living in cloud cucko land

its looking more and more likely there wont be a british world superbike round next year despite the real possibility 5 or 6 brits could be fighting for wins.

Like MotoGP, the event will also be held around a new configuration of the Silverstone circuit, known as the Arena Grand Prix layout, with modifications set to include a new section of track running from Abbey corner up to the 'Arena complex', promising multiple overtaking opportunities. The circuit then links up with the 'National Straight' before re-joining the original Grand Prix circuit at 'Brooklands'.

“We are delighted that World Superbikes will be back at Silverstone this year,” commented Silverstone managing director Richard Philips. “There was a very real risk that Britain wouldn't have a round of the Superbike World Championship in 2010.

“With seven of Britain's best riders racing in this year's championship, it would have been a travesty if they hadn't had a home race, and a home crowd, to perform in front of. We are thrilled that Silverstone has been able to step in and keep the race on the 2010 calendar

at least theyl be a home WSBK round for all the british riders

poor donny :ohno:

The Donington saga is a disgrace really. They've lost everything by going after F1 (when I bet Bernie never wanted them anyway; I'm convinced they were a pawn to result in Silverstone either caving in or getting dropped, and Bernie knew Donington wouldn't be doable - so he could either hold GB race to ransom or just drop it; either of which he'd be very happy with).

Well, sometimes when you go for the whole cake, you even lose out on the piece you already had. But it is definitely a shame, because it's not "just" the circuit that loses out, but the fans as well. :ohno:

Interesting developments...
Still not convinced it's a good venue, but willing to see how they reckon they can change it for the better...

(@rossispeed - edited your post so we don't hotlink)

Hmm  Im hoping they'll make it all nice and smooth for the start of the season.

I'm quite curious now to see how it'll turn out. Do we already know if there'll be unreserved seating areas like in Doni or do they stick to all grandstand seating?

They're actually adding more banking areas at Luffield and a few other places, the Silverstone website has a rough indication with their map on the website...

http://www.silverstone.co.uk/events/motogp1/

Though with the weekend grandstand tickets, includes a roving ticket for Friday and Saturday, where you can sit anywhere within the grade of your ticket and a reserved seat on your chosen grandstand on the Sunday.

Trying to decide on whether to book a seat opposite either the Start line, Woodcote, or the New Arena section lol...

Thanks for that Rosispeed! I now see the dilemma of chosing where the best option is... Let's discuss and sit together/near? Would be nice to have the Batifans close to one another also on raceday
