Opening the thread early for all discussions concerning the preseason tests this year. As a reminder, here are the dates: 3rd to 5th February - Sepang (first day for test riders only) 24th to 26th February - Sepang, Official IRTA Test (first day for test riders only) 17th to 19th March - Losail, Official IRTA Test Since there's no IRTA test at Jerez this year (for the first time since how many years?), I'm not sure at which circuit the BMW Award will be held. So, if anyone of you knows, feel free to share the information.

Its usually the last test as you say Tamara,i wonder if there will even be a BMW award "session" this year considering cut backs.

Mmmh, I don't think they would cut this session though. It always generates a lot of attention and media coverage which is really something they should be looking for in terms of not only cost-cutting, but increasing income. And the teams and riders are all there anyway, it's only an hour and as long as BMW can still afford a BMW to give out, I'm sure they'll still have the "GP Zero" this year despite everything.

What sucks, is that whilst they're doing their first test I have prelim exams!

Most likely. If they're doing the BMW Award again (which I assume) I'm fairly certain that the media will be around and we might even get it live on some channels.

Alvaro will be staying in Baby Blue this year as Rizla resigns with Suzuki... Quote: Suzuki Motor Corporation is pleased to announce a further two-year agreement with ITL (Imperial Tobacco Limited) which will see the Suzuki MotoGP team continue to carry the Rizla brand on its GSV-R in the premier class of motorcycling racing.
Rizla became the title sponsor of Suzuki’s MotoGP team in 2006 and the announcement of a further extension to the partnership will mean the Suzuki GSV-R will compete in the MotoGP World Championship in the now famous ‘Rizla Blue’ until at least 2011.
Rizla is the world’s premier brand of rolling papers and has had a racing association with Suzuki since the 1980’s in Grand Prix, including Suzuki legend Kevin Schwantz rolling out on his GP debut on a Rizla-backed RG500 in 1986. Loris Capirossi and new-signing Álvaro Bautista will be in action on their Rizla Suzukis at the first test of 2010 at Sepang in Malaysia this week, with the 18-race season scheduled to get underway beneath the lights of Losail in Qatar on Sunday 11th April.
Paul Denning – Team Manager: “Everybody involved with the Suzuki Grand Prix project is delighted that the Rizla brand will continue its partnership in 2010 and into 2011, and that we are able to continue with the now iconic Rizla Suzuki image for the next two seasons. It’s very clear that the 2009 season fell far below our expectations and targets, but Loris, Álvaro, the whole team and the Suzuki Racing group in Hamamatsu will be doing everything we can to take a big step forward and re-pay Rizla’s faith in the project during 2010 and beyond.”
Graham Blashill - Sales and Marketing Director, Imperial Tobacco Group Plc “We are delighted to continue our sponsorship of the Suzuki MotoGP team over the 2010 and 2011 seasons, and I look forward to an exciting couple of years both on the track and in our own business. The MotoGP platform fits perfectly with Rizla's global, premium status and the close partnership we have forged with the Suzuki team enables us to leverage the brand extremely effectively. Both from a personal point of view, and on behalf of the Imperial Tobacco Group, I wish Loris and Álvaro the best of luck on the track and I look forward to success for the Rizla Suzuki MotoGP team as a whole.”

Well, personally I find this video a bit too pretentious and all, but the production crew did a good job with the touch-up here... http://www.motogp.com/en/videos/2010/Fi ... +at+SepangEDIT: Bati's preview quotes ahead of the Sepang test. Quote: Álvaro Bautista: “I am really excited about this test, because it feels like my first real time as a Rizla Suzuki rider. I have already done a couple of tests, and the team seemed really happy with the job I did, but this time it will be my bike and I will also be in the team colours so that is another important thing. I am confident of my ability on the bike and the initial feeling on the MotoGP Suzuki is quite natural for me, but I will not be trying to break any records yet – I need to learn a lot more about the GSV-R and find the limits step by step. This Sepang test will be a good place to start, I am excited to be in Suzuki’s factory team and I will do my maximum for them. ”

Looking at the weather forecasts it seems like the test riders will have pretty much perfect conditions today while the MotoGP pack tomorrow and Friday could look forward to the chance of rain in the afternoons... But hey, at least they're always in the 30°C range... *iz jealous* EDIT: Unofficial laptimes, Day 11. Kosuke Akiyoshi JPN Honda Test Rider - 2'04.43 2. Wataru Yoshikawa JPN Yamaha Test Rider - 2'06.38 3. Nobuatsu Aoki JPN Suzuki Test Rider - 2'06.90 4. Norihiko Fujiwara JPN Yamaha Test Rider - 2'07.34 5. Vittoriano Guareschi ITA Ducati Test Rider - 2'08.00 There was light rain late in the afternoon, but apparently not enough to stop the work. Since some teams were already testing new parts and others didn't, laptimes have to be taken with a grain of salt.
