I must have been the only one who still needed convincing about this baby blue situation cause after looking at the pictures i still felt like a stubborn kid that wanted to through their toys out the pram and cry that was until i saw that last picture....

yum, yum, yum! i now am happy with the horrid blue if it results in more of those kind of pictures :gagged: :giggle:

Anyway test is looking good so far, see how tomorrow goes :D

Wayhey! Must be the Rev-it influence :oD:

trying not to read too much into 1 day's lap times, but it is encouraging to see Capirex up there

Yep, Randy and Rev'it! was the same thing I thought. :giggle:

Although it might have something to do with the heat in Malaysia, but I like our explanation better. ;)

Bati's been out rather late today apparently as his name only shows up in the 14.00 laptimes. However, looking good regardless of the few laps he did as he is already almost at the same laptime as yesterday. :D

14.00 local time
1. Lorenzo (Yamaha-Fiat) 2.01.680 (27 di 28 giri)
2. Rossi (Yamaha-Fiat) 2.01.780 (9 di 9)
3. Stoner (Ducati-Marlboro) 2.02.225 (3 di 10)
4. Spies (Yamaha-Monster) 2.02.266 (17 di 18)
5. Hayden (Ducati-Marlboro) 2.02.493 (30 di 30)
6. Edwards (Yamaha-Monster) 2.02.722 (22 di 22)
7. Capirossi (Suzuki-Rizla) 2.02.763 (25 di 30)
8. Pedrosa (Honda-Repsol) 2.02.775 (30 di 30)
9. Espargarò (Ducati-Pramac) 2.03.288 (7 di 11)
10. Dovizioso (Honda-Repsol) 2.03.359 (27 di 27)
11. De Puniet (Honda-LCR) 2.03.506 (1 di 14)
12. Bautista (Suzuki-Rizla) 2.03.627 (15 di 15)
13. Kallio (Ducati-Pramac) 2.03.648 (36 di 37)
14. Melandri (Honda-Gresini 2.03.725 (25 di 30)
15. Barberà (Ducati-Aspar) 2.03.861 (19 di 19)
16. Simoncelli (Honda-Gresini) 2.2.05.012 (19 di 22)
17. Aoyama (Honda-Interwetten) 2.205.277 (28 di 28)

Also, Simoncelli was the first rider to crash during this test today (surprise, surprise...) leaving his Gresini Honda via highsider at around 180km/h. As far as my Italian goes he seems to be declared fine by Clinica Mobile and resumed testing.

EDIT: The being out late was apparently due to a short downpour in the morning. Meanwhile the track seems to be rather dry again though and all riders went out sometime around midday.

EDIT2: Laptimes from 16.00 local time. Bati did not improve his time since the last update and is therefore falling behind.

1. Rossi (Yamaha-Fiat) 2.00.925 (20 di 20 giri)
2. Lorenzo (Yamaha-Fiat) 2.01.680 (27 di 39)
3. Pedrosa (Honda-Repsol) 2.01.822 (46 di 46)
4. Stoner (Ducati-Marlboro) 2.01.941 (25 di 28)
5. Spies (Yamaha-Monster) 2.02.266 (17 di 31)
6. Dovizioso (Honda-Repsol) 2.002.272 (46 di 47)
7. Hayden (Ducati-Marlboro) 2.02.493 (30 di 45)
8. Edwards (Yamaha-Monster) 2.02.677 (30 di 45)
9. Capirossi (Suzuki-Rizla) 2.02.763 (25 di 38)
10. Barberà (Ducati-Aspar) 2.003.109 (39 di 40)
11. Espargarò (Ducati-Pramac) 2.03.138 (23 di 26)
12. Aoyama (Honda-Interwetten) 2.03.195 (39 di 46)
13. Melandri (Honda-Gresini) 2.03. 288 (43 di 44)
14. Kallio (Ducati-Pramac) 2.03.359 (46 di 50)
15. De Puniet (Honda-LCR) 2.03.459 (27 di 32)
16. Bautista (Suzuki-Rizla) 2.03.627 (15 di 31)
17. Simoncelli (Honda-Gresini) 2.03.740 (34 di 40)

Great stuff there. Early days, decent kind of consistency.

@ rossispeed - just edited your post to avoid the hotlinking to pics.

Here's a bit of the Suzuki Team's write-up with quotes...

...................................................................

New Rizla Suzuki MotoGP signing Alvaro Bautista acquitted himself well at the 5,548m Sepang International Circuit during his first visit on an 800cc Grand Prix bike. He completed 88 laps during the two days and recorded a quickest time of 2’03.274. Bautista got into a good rhythm throughout the test and made many changes to his GSV-R to get the set-up right for his riding style, whilst improving steadily on his lap-time.

Alvaro - and teammate Loris Capirossi - will now both head off to Suzuki’s headquarters in Hamamatsu, Japan before returning to Sepang for the second test later this month. The two will be in race action at the first event of the year at Losail in Qatar on Sunday 11th April.

Here's key quotes from Alvaro and Team Manager Paul Denning...

Alvaro Bautista:
"It was a good test and I managed to learn a lot. This was my first time here on the MotoGP bike after a long time without riding, and it was amazing how much faster everything seemed to happen compared to the 250! Day one just felt like starting all over again! I made steps with my speed and it was a shame we lost some practice this morning due to the rain, but even with this the team improved the feeling of the bike a lot and now I think I can start to push more.
I am now looking forward to the next test and we certainly have a good base, and I feel ready to work when we get back to Sepang later this month."

Paul Denning, Team Manager:
"This has been a good shake-down test and has answered some questions for us, but we still need to find the correct solutions in one or two areas. The engineers will take the information back to Japan and the race department guys will be working flat out to find the necessary improvements for the next two tests. At the moment, I have to really thank Loris because we rely on him to give us the direction, and this means he has a really detailed workload! It’s tough for him because he knows he can go so much quicker when the base is fixed, but he also knows that we have to improve the bike a lot to avoid the same problems as 2009. We would rather leave Sepang a bit further down the order than 2009 but have a better race bike come the first GP!
Alvaro is working well, riding within himself and learning everything step by step. His riding style changed a little over the 2 days and he’s gradually becoming a MotoGP rider! At the moment he is doing everything we are asking of him, he improved steadily over the test and we are convinced that we will start to see big steps when he gets into the full rhythm of riding a MotoGP bike. Overall we are quite positive after this first test, but we all still know there is a lot more to do to achieve our targets."

Sooo... if I see this correctly, Bati's been slowest overall then? I mean, it's only the first test of the year and the laptimes among the rookies are very close, but still I'd have liked him to finish the two days a bit higher up the ranks. :_(: Oh well, testing is testing and races will be a completely different matter anyway. :D We'll see how much they can still improve over the preseason.
Now I hope we might be getting some pictures and press releases from Bati's and Loris' visit to the Suzuki headquarters...

Yep slowest :( But still, reading the comments by the team and Alvaro, i think it's nothing to worry about just yet. Looks to me like the Suzuki is somewhat harder to figure out and to get full potential out of than the other bikes. He should be fine with a couple more days on track :oD:

Btw, Simonchelli is taking a very Stoner-esque way of approaching corners :glazed:
